As a change from the barrage of story-related posts, here is a heartening development: Maryland’s governor has signed the same-sex marriage bill into law. Opponents are doing what they normally do, which is to try to get the popular vote to overturn it (never mind that your elected representatives are supposed to be the ones informed on the issues and making decisions about broadly-ranging laws like this one). Sadly, we will have to wait until after the November election to see whether this will become law, but hey, at least the people in Maryland can be happy that they’ve got a good government working for them in at least this one way.
