Prejudice in the Market

There’s a story breaking about an agent that offered representation of a YA novel–if the authors removed “teh gay” from it. They hasten to say that they don’t blame the agent; the agent is just representing what will sell.

This is just an FYI, because if you’re reading this journal, I know you already support queer books like damn. :) Just know that it makes a difference and that you oughta keep doing it. And they have a list of queer-friendly YA titles in case you want to buy more.

My recommendation: Malinda Lo’s Huntress. She’s local and is awesome and the writing is great.
